Getting started

This page is actively being worked on, and is in a very early stage. We're planning to include lots of things, like optimation guides etc. Stay tuned!

Introduction

Welcome to Gray Zone Warfare!

Gray Zone Warfare is an extraction shooter that puts you on the island of Lamang, a fictional island somewhere in South East Asia. Maneuver your way around completing quests, killing anything in your way to survive.

This page serves as a starting point for anyone new to the game, but also has helpful info for players that have been playing for a while.

First launch

When first loading up GZW, you will be greeted to the Character Creation screen. Customize your character to your liking in here. Things like your shirt, gloves, pants etc can be changed later on (you can unlock some new apparel in quests) but things like your physical appearance (beard, face type etc) cannot be changed after clicking Confirm on the Character Creation screen

Picking a faction

All 3 of the factions are practically the same. The main differences are:
1. The "starting town" is the same one for each faction, except rotated differently.
2. Of course, you will be fighting the other two factions, this means that
3. You will not be able to team up with your friends if you aren't on the same faction. Make sure to pick the factions your friend have picked.

Settings guide

GZW doesn't run particularly well if you don't have a NASA PC. Many people are not able to reach an FPS over 100 without FSR and Frame Generation on. Because of this, MADFINGER GAMES have released a general optimzation guide here

Here are some other general optimization tips - If you want more FPS, your going to have to sacrifice looks. Just turning your graphics to "Low" will give you an instant ~30 FPS boost. (depending on hardware) - If you have the option, Enable DLSS and / or FSR as your upscaling method.

First time in game!

After loading into a server for the first time, whether its PVE or PVP (progression crosses over between them) press TAB and familiarize yourself with the UI. Look around in your stash, the vendors etc and get a general feel for where everything is.
